Production Sites

Manufacturing is split between six Safilo Group plants -– three in Italy, one in Slovenia, one in the US and one in China. Some production has been outsourced to third-party manufacturers in Asia, Italy and the U S . For both internal and outsourced production, the critical area of quality control is managed directly by the Group.

Production plants specialise by type of material:

Plastics and semi-finished products

The Santa Maria di Sala plant near Venice in Italy produces frames in acetate (sheet manufacture), injection and Optyl. This facility houses the part of R&D area, responsible for designing and developing new technologies to improve and optimise the production process. The other plant is in Martignacco, in the province of Udine in northeastern Italy. It is specialised in the production of parts and accessories.

Metal division

The Longarone plant, near Belluno, Italy, is one of the world's most advanced production facilities in the eyewear sector. Longarone produces metal frames in aluminium, steel and titanium.

Others

The plant in Ormož, Slovenia, specialises in the production of semi-finished parts in injected plastic and Optyl as well as ski masks. The US plant, in Salt Lake City, produces skiing and motorbike masks . The company’s facility in Suzhou, China, produces unfinished components in acetate and metal.
