"Guglielmo Tabacchi" Gallery
The Guglielmo Tabacchi Gallery, the largest and most prestigious private eyewear collection in the world, provides an impressive showcase for the history of eyewear, from its origins to the present day. The collection is enriched every year with new and precious eyewear masterpieces.
The unique collection represents the labour of love of Vittorio Tabacchi, Honorary Chairman of Safilo Group, who has cultivated a lifelong passion for eyewear. It is divided into several different sections that cover seven centuries of eyewear history, exploring historical, social, artistic, geographical, cultural and fashion dimensions. Samantha Tabacchi, Director of the Guglielmo Tabacchi Gallery and Safilo Historic Archives, supports her father Vittorio in this venture.
Together they take care of finding and buying new pieces to add to the collection while she manages the historical archive of the Group. Samantha Tabacchi is active in national and international events, where the gallery’s temporary exhibitions are of great importance.
Recently renewed, the gallery was inaugurated in February 2009 by Italian Minister for Art & Culture Sandro Bondi.
