The new Balenciaga eyewear collection reinterprets the roots and aesthetic codes of the fashion house with increasingly offbeat architectural designs and original volumes. The 2011/2012 collection alternates between sculpted rims and curvaceous contours.

The new models reflect the brand's contemporary and innovative style, updating vintage shapes and inspirations with the focus on strong colour solutions that celebrate the DNA and stylistic codes of the Maison.

Nicolas Ghesquière, together with the Safilo creative team, has created original and decisive models with a highly distinct style.

Mod. BAL 0125/S (Edition) – These “Edition” sunglasses are straight out of the Maison's historical archives and reveal harmoniously sculpted volumes. The vintage inspiration is apparent in the substantial polished frame, emphasised by the temples with softly shaped faceting and a metal core that is visible through the transparent surface. The brand-new retro monogram is presented in metal and is positioned on the temples against chic colours of smoke grey, opalescent burgundy, crystal and green.

Mod. BAL 0129/S – There is a decidedly vintage style in these metal sunglasses. The super-lightweight frame is decorated with a “Bakelite-effect” coloured pattern, tying in with the texture of the label's ready-to-wear collection. The construction is deliberately ethereal, with semi-rimless lenses whilst the temples are interpreted in thin metal wire with the logo detail placed discreetly at the tenon, emphasising the deliberate lightness of the model. The colour palette includes silver/black, gold/brown, gold/ivory, gold/violet, gold/green and gold/blue.

Mod. BAL 0126/S – Iconic and unmistakable, the lightweight look and curvaceous lines of this metal sunglass recall the structure of Balenciaga's iconic sunglasses. The volumes are generous and the details are sophisticated, such as the monogram that hides the temple hinge. This model is proposed in refined colour contrasts: palladium with pink, gold/bronze with opal grey, dark ruthenium with grey, and blue with dark green.

Mod. BAL 0132/S – Boldly experimental constructions distinguish this women's sunglass in Optyl, a registered trademark by Safilo Group which identifies an ultra-lightweight plastic material with refined colour effects. The shape is large and hexagonal, whilst the radical and bold temples exhibit contemporary spirit in the overlapping of materials, the split design of the temples and with the double metal core visible through the transparent surface, the small screws near the logo. This model is proposed in sophisticated tones, such as black/grey, pink, dark green, opal grey, streaked beige and brown/violet.
